Learning hubs: the hybrid and connected school of the future

Learning hubs represent a major innovation in education by combining the quality of a high-level online curriculum with structured in-person support. Designed to meet the needs of modern families, these local mini-schools provide a secure and stimulating environment that fosters socialization and joyful active learning.

Adapted to the increasing mobility of families, learning hubs ensure pedagogical continuity wherever you are, thanks to their flexible, permanent or temporary deployment. They allow children to thrive in an environment suited to the educational and societal challenges of the 21st century, balancing freedom, innovation, and cultural inclusion.

Brief presentation of learning hubs:
concept, objectives, innovation

A learning hub is an innovative educational space designed as a local mini-school where children follow an online school curriculum combined with personalized human support and on-site learning activities.

This groundbreaking concept merges the flexibility of distance learning with the structure and social interaction of a physical learning environment, making it ideal for modern, hybrid education.

Learning hubs complement traditional schools and online education by offering a safe, dynamic, and collaborative space. Students benefit from a structured schedule that blends virtual lessons, hands-on workshops, and group projects.

Dedicated teachers, coaches, and mentors use advanced educational technologies to deliver personalized learning experiences, fostering critical skills for the 21st century.

As a future-focused educational model, learning hubs support student engagement, academic success, and social development, positioning them at the forefront of the evolving landscape of digital and blended learning environments.

The objectives are multiple: promote academic success, encourage collaboration and creativity, provide access to advanced educational technologies, and reduce inequalities in access to quality education. Through this model, the school becomes a true place of life and exchange at the heart of local and international communities.

Why these hubs are essential

in today’s educational context

Learning hubs respond to several major contemporary challenges: they provide a structuring framework essential for children while respecting family mobility and freedom; they reduce inequalities by implanting quality education in urban, suburban, rural, or international environments and they integrate innovative pedagogy focused on creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Learning hubs thus prepare students for the challenges of the modern world while nurturing their curiosity and engagement.

Types of learning hubs

  • Permanent physical hubs: fixed locations with full facilities and staff.

  • Temporary hubs: provisional setups, often due to weather or seasonality, hosted by local partners (universities, companies).

Objectives of learning hubs

Learning hubs aim to:

  • Foster individual academic success through personalized support.

  • Develop collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking skills among students.

  • Prepare students to thrive in a constantly evolving world.

  • Stimulate curiosity and lifelong learning through hands-on and engaging experiences.

  • Support socio-emotional development alongside academic progress.

  • Encourage global citizenship and cultural awareness within diverse learning communities.

  • Strengthen adaptability and problem-solving skills essential for future careers.

Main characteristics

Learning hubs are characterized by:

  • Flexible spaces: individual and group study rooms, workshops, relaxation areas

  • Human support: educational coaches, teachers, mentors.

  • Innovative pedagogical programs: project-based learning, interdisciplinarity, practical workshops.

  • Strong emphasis on multilingualism and cultural diversity.

  • Flexible access: physical attendance or remote participation.

Benefits for students and families

Students benefit from personalized learning adapted to their pace and needs, develop essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration, and grow in a motivating social environment that fosters engagement. Socialization and teamwork equip them with essential social skills for their future.

For parents, learning hubs offer a flexible and reliable solution, combining rigorous educational support with a safe and stimulating environment for children. They enable nomadic families and homeschooling children to balance quality learning with daily life organization, providing parents the peace of mind to work effectively while their children thrive in a structured setting.

Additionally, these hubs foster the creation of support networks among families enhancing social inclusion and cultural diversity within communities.

Implantation of learning hubs

Hubs are strategically located in urban, suburban, rural, or international zones in partnership with businesses, universities, and local authorities. Their operation is designed to offer adapted hours (9 am to 4 pm), simplified enrollment procedures, and controlled costs.

Organization and rhythm of the learning hubs

The learning hubs welcome children Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 4 pm.
This regular schedule provides families with a stable structure while preserving the flexibility that is at the heart of the Free Little School philosophy.

A typical day

  • Morning (9 am – 12 pm): supervised academic activities following the official Free Little School curriculum.

  • Afternoon (1 pm – 4 pm): a “sports and discovery” time — a mix of scientific activities, sports, outings, cultural explorations, language learning, creative workshops, and optional projects.

  • Wednesday: a full day dedicated to special activities and creative, scientific, or sports workshops, often connected to local culture and environment.

Alternating periods

Our Learning Hubs welcome children all year round (except for temporary hubs), with a rhythm that includes both school periods and holiday breaks.

As with any well-structured educational program, the year is divided into alternating periods of focused study and active breaks to ensure a balanced and effective learning experience. The year alternates between:

  • School periods: focused on acquiring fundamental knowledge and 21st-century skills.

  • Holidays period: rich periods of playful and educational activities: sports, games, cultural discoveries, visits, languages, sciences, allowing children to recharge while continuing to learn in different ways. Among the activities offered are robotics, science, arts, and language workshops; collaborative interdisciplinary projects such as organizing local cultural events; and educational competitions like hackathons or debates.

Flexibility and organization

Registration is available annually or monthly, according to family needs.

Attendance is not mandatory every day, but the schedule of attendance days must be planned and confirmed in advance for organizational, safety, and staffing reasons.

The minimum registration period is one full month, even if the child does not attend every day.

Learning hubs under development

We are currently establishing eight strategically located learning hubs, with four scheduled to open between September and December. These hubs are:

  • Da Nang (Vietnam)

  • Chiang Mai (Thailand)

  • Hoi An (Vietnam)

  • Koh Phayam (Thailand)

These learning hubs will provide children with a safe, dynamic, and multicultural environment where they can learn, collaborate, and grow together.

Registrations are currently open, and families are invited to contact us to learn more and arrange an in-person or virtual meeting.
