EXPLORE THE WORLD
AND DISCOVER WHO YOU ARE!

Our Explorers program is designed to nurture children’s sense of wonder, foster independence, and strengthen key foundational skills

through hands-on, meaningful learning.

At this age, children are eager to understand the world around them, ask questions, and express themselves. We guide them with care and intention, helping them grow into curious, confident, and thoughtful young learners.

DISCOVER THE EXPLORERS EDUCATION CURRICULUM

A unique approach for children aged 6-7, inspired by the world’s best

educational practices

The Explorers program is designed to support children aged 6 to 7 during a pivotal stage in their development, when their curiosity becomes more focused, their thinking begins to take shape, and their skillset expands.

Rooted in active and personalized learning, our program is based on an innovative pedagogy specifically crafted to prepare children for the challenges of the future.

In addition to mastering core academic knowledge, we place a strong emphasis on developing transversal skills, deep understanding, and essential attitudes that support children’s intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

In a constantly evolving world, it is crucial to cultivate skills that enable children to adapt, think critically, and contribute positively to society.

That is why our program integrates, from an early age, key concepts that are essential for tomorrow’s careers and global challenges:

  • Learning how to learn: through age-appropriate learning strategies, children discover how their brain works, how to memorize effectively, and how to leverage their strengths to succeed.

  • Human psychology: Our activities are designed to help children understand their emotions, build empathy, and interact positively with others, laying the foundations for strong emotional intelligence.

  • Biomimicry and nature observation: Inspired by nature’s ingenious solutions, children engage in projects that encourage them to explore, observe, and draw ideas from natural systems to solve simple problems.

  • Ingenuity: Creativity and innovation are nurtured through challenges such as building objects with recycled materials or designing practical solutions to everyday issues.

  • Sustainable entrepreneurship: Children learn to design simple projects, understand basic sustainability concepts, and reflect on their environmental impact—building early awareness of ecological and entrepreneurial responsibility.

These future-ready skills are developed through a project-based approach carefully tailored to their age. Each project includes interactive and hands-on components that spark engagement and stimulate deeper thinking.

For example, when creating a mini garden, children explore the natural cycles (biomimicry), practice planning and problem-solving (ingenuity), and learn about resource management (sustainable entrepreneurship).

By cultivating these skills from an early age, we equip children with the tools they need to become active learners, creative thinkers, and engaged citizens. These strong foundations will not only support their academic success but also help them thrive in a complex and ever-changing world.

A pedagogical approach tailored to ages 6–7:

learning through depth and construction

Our program for 6–8 year-olds combines exploration, collaboration, and creativity, while addressing the specific developmental needs of this age group.

We encourage children to become independent, curious, and engaged learners, capable of connecting core academic concepts to meaningful, hands-on projects.

This approach is grounded in the belief that every child is a natural explorer eager to discover and make sense of the world.

Through age-appropriate activities, they not only build strong academic foundations but also develop essential transversal skills such as critical thinking, project management, and teamwork.

The learning environment we offer is both interactive and stimulating, allowing each child to progress at their own pace while contributing to collective initiatives.

Our carefully selected thematic projects enable children to deepen their understanding, ask meaningful questions, and experiment actively.

This immersive, student-centered approach, which values self-expression and collaboration, provides an engaging framework for turning their natural curiosity into a true engine for learning.

Why is this program unique and ideal for children aged 6–7?

Our program stands out through its child-centered pedagogy, which values each learner’s active participation and empowers them as co-constructors of their own learning journey.

Children are actively involved in selecting their projects, which strengthens their autonomy, sense of responsibility, and motivation.

Through structured activities that combine hands-on exploration, critical thinking, and creativity, students build strong knowledge foundations while having fun and collaborating with their peers, making learning both meaningful and engaging.

A defining feature of our approach is the integration of contextual learning, which connects academic concepts to real-life, meaningful situations. Children experience the relevance of what they learn.

Concrete examples of active learning for 6–7 year-olds:

  • Discovering fractions by sharing a cake or a pizza

  • Exploring geometric shapes by building Lego houses

  • Observing how a seed grows to understand plant life

  • Learning how to measure by baking a cake together

  • Understanding the states of water by playing with ice, steam, and liquid water

  • Creating treasure maps to learn about orientation and map reading

  • Learning numbers by playing shop or market games

  • Expanding vocabulary by inventing and performing short plays

This immersive approach gives purpose to their learning and stimulates critical thinking and natural curiosity.

  • Creativity at the heart of learning: creativity plays a central role in our pedagogy. Children are encouraged to express their ideas through a wide range of mediums: writing, oral presentations, drawing, building, coding, and even debates. This diversity allows them to develop a deeper and more innovative understanding of the topics explored.

  • Strong academic foundations aligned with the world’s leading curricula: all of our activities are aligned with the world's leading curricula, ensuring that children build solid academic foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, and world exploration.

  • Social and emotional growth: our program also places a strong emphasis on personal and social development. Collaborative projects and guided discussions help students learn to work in teams, listen to others, and express themselves confidently and respectfully. By valuing their ideas and celebrating their successes, we support each child’s personal growth and help them build confidence, while preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.

Our program offers a well-balanced and holistic learning experience, one that nurtures the mind while inspiring children to explore the world with curiosity and joy.

Rooted in strong values, shaped for the future

At Free Little School, we see education for 6–8 year-olds as a unique opportunity to lay the foundations for a fulfilling life full of possibilities.

Our program is designed to cultivate strong values and essential qualities that guide children in their learning, personal growth, and interactions with the world around them.

We teach them to dream big, to believe in their abilities, and to act with confidence while respecting their individuality and their natural pace of development.

  • Autonomy: our students learn to manage responsibilities, organize their tasks, and make informed decisions. By supporting them in this process, we equip them with the tools to grow into confident and independent individuals.

  • Curiosity: we nurture their natural thirst for discovery by encouraging them to ask questions, explore a wide range of topics, and turn their curiosity into a powerful driver for learning.

  • Joy of Learning: learning is a joyful adventure. We ensure that each child finds pleasure in discovering, experimenting, and understanding—laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

  • Courage & Perseverance: we help children face challenges with determination and meet obstacles with courage. They learn that perseverance and consistent effort are key to overcoming difficulties and reaching their goals.

  • Appreciation of Effort: we celebrate every step forward, big or small, and teach children to value the process as much as the outcome. This mindset prepares them to tackle increasingly complex challenges.

  • Freedom: we provide a safe space where children can express themselves, experiment, and learn without fear of judgment. This freedom allows them to explore their passions, develop creativity, and grow while staying true to who they are.

  • A “Anything is Possible” Mindset: we inspire our students to dream big and believe in their potential. By showing them that every idea can be turned into action, we help them develop a bold, optimistic attitude towards challenges.

  • Creativity & Ingenuity: through diverse activities, children learn to imagine, innovate, and come up with original solutions to the problems they face. This ability to think differently prepares them for a rapidly evolving world.

  • Collaboration & community spirit: we teach them to listen to others, work as a team, and value diverse perspectives. They discover that cooperation is essential to achieving common goals.

  • Empathy & Kindness: understanding their own emotions and those of others, building harmonious relationships, and respecting differences are at the heart of our program. These human qualities help them contribute to a more just and caring world.

  • Responsibility: children learn to care for their environment, keep their commitments, and understand the impact of their actions on themselves, others, and the world around them.

  • Resilience: we teach them to see mistakes and setbacks as valuable learning experiences. By developing their ability to bounce back, they gain an inner strength that will support them throughout life.

  • Open-mindedness: by discovering various cultures, traditions, and perspectives, our students expand their understanding of the world and learn to appreciate the richness of diversity.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit: we give them the tools to turn their ideas into concrete actions. By nurturing their self-confidence and ability to innovate, we empower them to become changemakers.

A Future-oriented vision

Our program goes beyond teaching academic fundamentals.

It empowers children with the freedom to be themselves, the courage to persevere, and the belief that anything is possible.

By valuing their individuality, strengthening their resilience, and nurturing their joy of learning, we prepare them to face challenges with boldness and creativity.

At Free Little School, we nurture free-thinking, curious, and courageous individuals children who dare to dream big and act with purpose.

By integrating these core values and essential life skills, we equip them with the tools they need to build a meaningful, inspiring, and sustainable future.

flexibility and personalization for every child

At Free Little School, our educational program is specifically designed to support children aged 6 to 7, taking into account individual developmental differences, specific needs, and each child's unique learning pace. By grouping these two years within a coherent framework, we provide the flexibility needed to support every student in their personal growth and progression.

  • Age-appropriate learning: children between the ages of 6 and 7 are in a transitional phase, moving from concrete learning toward greater capacity for abstraction and critical thinking. Our program integrates a wide range of activities that increase in complexity and depth, adapting to this natural progression.

  • Respect for individual learning rhythms: each child learns at their own pace whether in mastering foundational skills such as reading and mathematics, or in developing transversal competencies like collaboration or creativity. By offering differentiated activities and personalized support, our program enables every student to progress at their optimal level without unnecessary pressure.

  • Flexible learning pathways: our projects and activities are designed to align with children’s interests while meeting essential educational goals. This approach fosters sustained engagement by nurturing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

  • Smooth transitions: by integrating the three early primary grades into a unified learning framework (equivalent to Grades 1–2), we ensure smooth transitions from one level to the next. Children benefit from pedagogical continuity that builds confidence and a sense of security, while allowing for gradual adjustments based on individual needs.

This flexible and inclusive program allows every student to thrive at their own pace, while meeting essential learning goals. By personalizing our approach, we provide children not only with the skills they need to succeed, but also with the confidence and motivation to remain lifelong learners.
